3.8 : Health Services

Good health care is readily available in the Greenville community. HSHS Holy Family Hospital is just a few blocks from campus and an ambulance service is available for emergencies. Several doctors’ offices are within walking distance, and the Greenville community has Convenient Care, a community care walk-in clinic that provides healthcare services Monday to Friday from 07:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturday from 08:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.

An on-campus clinic is available for students Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM. Visits to the clinic for students are free of charge provided the student brings their student id with them to the clinic. The HSHS On-Campus Clinic is located across Elm Street from the library between the Campus Safety and Burkhardt buildings. The clinic provides routine diagnosis and treatment of non-trauma illness and injuries. Several services such as vaccinations, routine screenings such as blood sugar and lipids, and rapid diagnostic tests such as strep are also available at the clinic for an additional charge. Walk Ins are welcome, but students can contact 618-690-3595 to make an appointment.

Students are individually responsible for the cost of health care received. Most local doctors require payment at the time of service. All students are required to submit an Emergency/Health Insurance Form during registration. Students participating in intercollegiate athletics must have a physical examination each year and submit the completed form before beginning practice. The student bears the cost of the examination.
