ARTH 342 History of Hip Hop in Pop Culture

From Run DMC to Jay Z and kendrick Lamar, this course will explore the historical, sociological, and cultural infulences of hip hop in modern society. Students will engage in a semester long research project that will critically analyze the effects of hip hop on culture and culture on hip hop. Students will also explore the international hip hop scene with case studies specifically focused on France, the UK, and the Middle East.
