SCWK 220 Human Behavior - Micro Environment

This course in Social Work will broaden the students' understanding of the human condition and the influences that impact human behavior. Understanding the complex and multifaceted aspects of the human condition helps social workers enhance the health and welfare of the individuals, families, and groups they serve. Theory and research on micro-level influences on human well-being and human suffering will be included such as cognitive, biological, emotional, social, psychological, mental health and illness, and life phases, as well as macro-level influences such as culture, poverty, immigration, discrimination, and policy. A rich understanding of the human experience and the impact of these aspects will help social worker practitioners help others.
