Liberal Studies
Liberal Studies is an interdisciplinary degree program that draws from a variety of departments and allows students to gain skills and learn about the knowledge areas and methodologies of a number of scholarly disciplines. Students will create a course plan and develop a statement of intent in which they will identify their goals for their degree at the beginning of the program. The program also incorporates an internship that will give students practical experience at using their education in a work setting. This program will attract students who are curious, who have a wide array of interests, and who like to make connections in an interdisciplinary way. The liberal studies major leads to a bachelor of science degree.
Courses that count toward General Education requirements will not count toward completion of this major (i.e. double dipping is not allowed). The upper division writing intensive course is counted as a major requirement, and therefore only one writing intensive course is needed to graduate.
