Online Degree Programs
Greenville University offers multiple online degree programs. The agribusiness, business management, criminal justice, elementary education, organizational leadership, psychology, and social work majors offer working adults an opportunity to complete their undergraduate education in a learner centered, accelerated, and online format. Students completing the adult degree completion programs earn the bachelor of science degree. Students’ work and life experiences help produce a productive and useful learning environment.
Students completing the elementary education major will have a number of courses that require field experience hours in a local classroom, and the social work major requires a ten credit practicum where each credit requires a minimum of 40 hours of work experience.
Admission Requirements
Greenville University admits students who desire to achieve a liberal arts education in an evangelical Christian context. Members of this community are either committed to Christ or are sympathetic to the Christian perspective.
Applicants are evaluated by consideration of their academic record, interviews, and life and work experiences. To be considered for admission, students must submit the following:
- A completed Application for Admission
- College Transcripts
- Some majors may require a writing sample
Types of Admission
- Full Admission: Student has met all requirements.
- Provisional Admission: Students who have a grade point average of less than 2.5 on previous college coursework must petition for provisional admission. If provisional admission is granted, students will be on academic probation their first semester. Students who earn below a 2.0 their first semester will be dismissed while students who have above a 2.0 will be fully admitted for the subsequent semester.
- It is important to note that students pursuing an Illinois teaching license will need to have a 2.75 GPA to be admitted into the School of Education.
Transcript Evaluation
The Academic Advisor will provide an assessment of the student’s academic history upon receipt of official transcripts, military records (DD214), and other American Council on Education (ACE) accredited instruction. Once the evaluation is complete, the student will receive an unofficial transcript evaluation for review in preparation for enrollment in an online degree program. It is not necessary to have an application on file for the student to request a transcript evaluation.
Credit for Life Experience
Credit based on work or other voluntary experience may be considered based on a request by a student. A petition available from the Records Office must be completed and submitted to the registrar for consideration. The decision for such advanced placement would be the prerogative of the registrar in consultation with the head of the department in which the course is given. A fee may apply for placing credit for life experience onto a transcript.
Students seeking an Illinois teaching certificate may not substitute PLA credits for course requirements.
Academic Review Policy
The College monitor students’ progress at the end of each semester (fall, spring, and summer). The undergraduate Academic Standards policy is located in a different area of the catalog.
Students who do not maintain the minimum academic standard may jeopardize their financial aid.

The costs of texts and materials vary from course to course. Students are responsible for acquiring their own textbooks.
