All students are required to complete a biblical studies course except those who have earned an A.A. or A.S. Biblical Studies courses focus on a particular Biblical genre, book, or testament of the Bible. Students generally will take either Old Testament Survey or New Testament Survey. Other BIBL courses may be substituted for
BIBL 205 or
BIBL 215. Students interested in an alternative course should check with the Dean of the Bastian School and the Records Office to ensure that another course will fulfill this requirement.
Other non-catalog courses that have been approved to meet the Biblical Studies requirement include:
- BIBL 170 Experiencing the Story of God
- BIBL 173/373 Interpreting the City: Reading the New Testament in Spain
Students wishing to transfer in a biblical studies course may do so as long as the course meets the following requirements:
1. The course must have an in depth focus on a portion of scripture and contain an exegesis component.
2. The course must be completed at a Christian or Bible school; courses from public institutions may be accepted as elective credit and will not fulfill the biblical studies requirement.
3. The course cannot be a literature or history course.
