MATH 111 College Algebra
Few subjects inspire as much intimidation as math. According to a 2012 New York Times article, freshman math courses are a major source of college dropouts, hindering many from moving forward in their chosen field. However, what many people don’t realize is that algebra already pops up in your everyday life: whether it’s applying for a loan, creating a household budget, comparing prices at the grocery, understanding deductions in your paycheck, or determining the correct dosage for over-the-counter medication.
This course breaks down otherwise intimidating math terms and equations, and empowers you to use algebra to solve problems in your life and career. You’ll explore topics such as arithmetic functions, linear equations, graphing equations, polynomials, quadratic equations, parabolas, and radical expressions. By the end of the course, you’ll not only be able to apply algebra in real-life scenarios, but you’ll also have critical and logical thinking skills that will help you in all areas of life.
