ENGL 5240 American Literature

AMERICAN LITERATURE

The course examines the development of a U.S. national identity and culture through literary works that span from the colonial period through the 21st century. Students will encounter literature that represents major movements and eras of American literature and will research ways in which literary works both influenced and reflected the growth of a distinctive culture.
