Appeals Procedure

Candidates who wish to file an appeal must follow the steps as described below:

1. Appeal in writing to the direct faculty member/instructor/advisor that is associated with the problem and then meet with that individual in an attempt to resolve the problem(s).
2. If you are unsatisfied with the outcome from step 1, you may appeal, in writing, to the Chairperson for the Committee on Teacher Education (COTE). The Committee chairperson will convene the Committee at the next regularly scheduled meeting. If, in the sole opinion of the chairperson, a timelier decision is required, the chairperson will convene a 3-member representative body of COTE. In both cases, a decision will be rendered within 5 working days of the meeting.
3. If you are unsatisfied with the outcome from step 2, you may appeal in writing to the Director of Teacher Education. The Director will render a decision within 5 working days of receipt of the written appeal.

All appeals should be typed and state clearly the student’s reason for appealing and the evidence that should be considered during the appeal process.
