2.10.1.1 : Chapel Probation
Students who do not earn 10 TWE and 10 SF credits at the end of semester will be placed on Chapel Probation. Students who are on Chapel Probation face the following consequences:
1. A hold will be placed on your student account- this means you will not be able to register for classes (including changing your schedule), request a transcript, or receive your diploma.
2. Loss of University-sponsored leadership positions- Since we view chapel attendance as an important part of the GU experience, students on Chapel Probation will lose their privilege to serve in positions of leadership including RAs, student government, and campus ministries.
In addition to these consequences, faculty advisors and coaches will be notified of those students on Chapel Probation, and they will be encouraged to use their influence in a positive way to help students earn their required number of TWE and SF credits.
To make up TWE and/or SF credits that were missed, students are required to watch a video of a TWE or Vespers service that he or she was not present for and write a 200-word essay that contains the following items:
1. Your name and student ID number
2. The title of the TWE/Vespers video you watched
3. A summary of the message/sermon
4. One thing your learned from or took away from the service
One essay counts for one TWE or SF credit. TWE credits can only be made-up by watching and writing an essay on a TWE video and SF credits can only be made-up by watching and writing an essay on a Vespers video. Some exceptions may be made for SF make-up credits. The Chaplain may post additional videos that will be counted as SF make-ups. All videos for the make-up assignments will be found in the Spiritual Formation community group on D2L. Completed essays should be submitted to the dropbox housed withing the Spiritual Formation D2L page.
Once you have watched the recordings and submitted your make up essays, bringing you to 10 TWE and 10 SF credits for the prior semester, you will be removed from chapel probation and your privileges will be restored.
