Most students pursuing B.A., B.S., B.S.E., or B.S.W. degrees must complete one ACTY credit in order to graduate. ACTY courses are usually 0.5 credit courses offered for eight weeks of each semester. Students may choose from a variety of individual and team sports. Any course with the prefix of ACTY will fulfill the requirement.
Students who enter with an A.A. or A.S. degree are not required to complete the ACTY requirement.
Students participating in a varsity sport, cheerleading, or dance team for a complete season may waive a half (.5) activity credit. Students do not earn ACTY course credit for their athletic participation; they waive the activity requirement. In other words, participation cannot help students accumulate credits toward graduation but can help them fulfill this requirement. The waiver applies only to ACTY credits, not to the PHED 103 requirements.
Veterans or students over 25 years of age when entering Greenville University for the first time may also waive the ACTY credit. The PHED 103 requirement still must be completed.
Students are not permitted to take more than one credit of ACTY.
Courses that will meet all or part of the Activity requirement.
- BIOL 126/326 Conservation Biology - waives 1/2 credit
- GNRL 175 Culture and Cuisine - waives 1/2 credit
Activity courses may be transferred to Greenville University as long as the course required the student to participate in an activity.
A maximum of one credit will be accepted regardless of how many credits were earned or awarded by the institution.
