Acceptance of Gifts

The University strives to maintain the highest ethical standards and expects employees to avoid actual or potential conflicts of interest. Accepting a gift from a person or entity from those with whom the University does business or those seeking a benefit from the University can be a conflict of interest.

For these reasons, employees must not solicit or accept gifts, directly or indirectly, of any appreciable value from those with whom the University does or might do business. Under this policy, employees of the University may accept a gift valued at $25 or less from persons or organizations with whom the University does business. For gift items valued over $25, prior written approval must be obtained from the appropriate supervisor and/or Cabinet Member.
