Preparation for Field Experience

Discussion, lectures, texts, manuals, guides, demonstrations, models, videotapes, and films are used to prepare students for field experiences. These help students to identify the focus of lessons, the sequence of information, and those activities used to support a given content. Both general and highly specific observation assignments have been designed for student use by the very nature of their questions and requirements in order to prepare the students for optimum observation. The sharing of the information compiled through the use of the assignments creates opportunities for further preparation. The students then learn from each other through the analysis, reaction, and insight of their peers. They are additionally sensitized to their own attitudes, biases, and perceptions through self-inventories before entering the classroom.
