Policies During Professional Internship
Termination
In the event problems arise that cannot be resolved by the cooperating teacher, the student teacher, the university consultant, and the Director of Field Experience and Clinical Practice, a conference will be arranged between the principal or a designee and the aforementioned parties in an attempt to resolve the problems. If the problem cannot be resolved, the student teaching assignment may be terminated.
Work Stoppage
In the event of a strike or unplanned work stoppage, candidates are to remain neutral. Questions concerning students’ participation in any activities during such an event must be directed to the Director of Field Experience and Clinical Practice. If it appears that a work stoppage may prevent a candidate from completing the experience within one semester, as defined by Greenville University’s calendar, the candidate may be withdrawn from the school and assigned another placement.
Policy on Assistant Coaching or Similar Activities
Candidates who enter into agreement with a school district to assist with coaching responsibilities or other similar activities mus
t view that duty as separate from the student teaching assignment. They must be involved with student teaching-related activities during the academic hours of the school district, and they are not permitted to leave their student teaching assignments during academic hours for practice and/or games. Candidates cannot accept payment for activities that occur during the academic hours of the district. Student teaching evaluations are based on student teaching-related activities. Greenville University is not responsible for agreements made by student teachers and school districts involving assistant coaching or other similar activities.
