2.4.25 : Noxious Odors

All members of the GU community are responsible for contributing to the creation of a healthy and supportive environment to live and learn in. The university recognizes that noxious odors have the potential to contribute negatively to the community’s quality of life and affect living and learning environments.

GU defines a noxious odor as ANY aroma that occurs with such intensity and lingers that it becomes apparent to any one or more persons. Odors including, but not limited to, cigarette, marijuana, cigar, or pipe smoke as well as perfume, air freshener, alcohol, or large amounts of dirty laundry may be classified as a noxious or offensive odor when the aroma or odor is intense and lingers for a period of time. When the source of the noxious odor can be traced to a particular room or the odor is emanating from a particular person or their clothing, the occupants of that room or the person from who the odor is emanating may be subject to disciplinary action or referrals for further investigation including but not limited to drug testing or a sweep of the room by a trained drug detection dog.
