Building Literacy and Social Emotional Learning through Read Alouds
A classroom read aloud provides opportunities for teachers to model and develop key components of reading development. Through this course, you will learn to plan engaging and interactive read alouds to build background knowledge, support language comprehension, develop vocabulary, and increase verbal reasoning. Explore the components of an interactive read aloud, including strategies for before, during and after reading. You’ll also learn how to use the read aloud routine to support social emotional learning, including empathy and understanding about identity differences.
