Non-Teaching Faculty Reviews
Librarians, coaches, deans, and others having faculty status but whose primary responsibility is not teaching must be reviewed, but will not be reviewed by the Faculty Review Committee. These reviews will be conducted by the faculty member’s direct supervisor. Deans and others for whom teaching is at least half of their contract will be accountable for meeting the expectations for review set forth in the Faculty Handbook.
Timing of Non-Teaching Faculty Reviews
Ordinarily, non-teaching faculty are reviewed annually. The supervisor will contact the faculty member to set up a time for the review. These reviews are scheduled to take place in January but may be
scheduled at other times that are mutually agreed upon by the reviewer and the non-teaching faculty member.
Outcomes of Non-Teaching Faculty Reviews
When a non-teaching faculty review is complete, the reviewer will send the faculty member a copy of the evaluation and may meet with the person again to discuss any details about the conclusions reached in the review. Copies of the evaluations will be placed in the faculty member’s permanent file.
This review is designed to help the faculty member grow in the position and set new goals for the coming year. However, this review may be used to support a decision to terminate the faculty member if, in the best judgment of supervisors, there is a justifiable reason for dismissal.
