Professional Development and Goals
The FRC will be looking for a sustained pattern of professional development that enables faculty members to stay current and grow in areas relevant to their teaching and professional interests.
A sustained pattern of professional development should demonstrate that faculty members:
1. Actively engage in professional inquiry and development through their participation in a Faculty Learning Community (or NFO and F&L Seminar), leadership development program, and/or service to the institution as an evocative coach.
2. Involve themselves in their professional areas so that they are aware of current trends related to their teaching and individual interest and are engaged with others who are likeminded. This could be demonstrated through attendance at conferences and professional meetings, membership in relevant professional organizations, and through evidence of professional activities undertaken during summers, Interterm, and/or sabbaticals.
3. Set realistic yet challenging goals for professional growth.
4. Consistently strive to reach those goals.
The administration will make it a priority to expand resources for professional development.
A faculty member will earn ratings based on the following standards:

NOTE: For professional growth to be evaluated, faculty must have completed their Professional Portfolios. As stated elsewhere (see the respective deadlines for each type of review or the Deadlines Summary at the end of Part Three), faculty failing to submit their Portfolio by the September 10 deadline may be ineligible to be reviewed and may have a letter documenting the lack of review placed in their permanent file.
