Article I: Name, Location, Affiliation, Mission, and Oversight

A. The name of this Institution shall be GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY, of Greenville, Illinois, as specified in its Certification of Incorporation.

B. The principal office of this corporation shall be at 315 East University Avenue in the city of Greenville, County of Bond and State of Illinois. There shall be a corporate seal of the institution, bearing the inscription, “Greenville University, Illinois” of which the secretary of the Board of Trustees shall be the custodian.

C. The Institution shall affirm and maintain its identification with the historic Wesleyan tradition and its affiliation with the Free Methodist Church - USA.

D. Mission Statement: “Greenville University empowers students for lives of character and service through a transforming Christ-centered education in the liberal arts, sciences and professional studies.”

E. The Greenville University board, administration, faculty and staff will strive to reflect the Lordship of Christ – at all times implicitly, and often explicitly. This will be reflected clearly throughout our curriculum, campus life, and extracurricular activities. Our Christian identity will be readily discernible in University-sponsored programs that look outward to the world.

F. All matters pertaining to this corporation shall be under the purview of a Board of Trustees.
