Article IX: Faculty
Section 1. Composition, Duties and Organization
The Faculty is comprised of the President, Provost, academic deans, professors of all ranks, instructors, adjunct faculty, and/or other persons determined by the President and Board of Trustees. The Faculty’s primary duty is the educational and scholarly work of the institution. The Faculty Assembly shall make such rules of procedure and provide for such committees as may be required for the fulfillment of their duties. The President shall approve the appointment of a secretary who shall keep a record of their proceedings.
Section 2. Recommendations
The faculty acting formally through Faculty Assembly shall make recommendations to the President, subject to approval by the Board, regarding
1. curriculum, subject matter and methods of instruction, and research;
2. requirements for admission;
3. those aspects of student life that relate to the educational process; and
4. matters of faculty welfare. They shall recommend to the Board for its approval, candidates for degrees upon completion of such work.
Section 3. Regulation of Student Activities
The Faculty shall recommend to the President guidelines for regulating student publications, athletics, organizations, clubs, and other student affairs.
Section 4. Executive Limitations
No recommendation or regulation shall contravene any provision of the Greenville University By-laws or the Board Policy Manual
