AN EFFECTIVE GUIDE FOR INTEGRATING DEBATE IN THE CLASSROOM
We intend this course to help all teachers and educational professionals develop the skills needed to incorporate effective debate into a classroom. Debate is an excellent vehicle for promoting critical thinking and helping students develop a deep connection to content.
This course will direct professionals through the debate process. In this course, you will set SMART goals to guide your process, investigate how to help students form effective arguments, research debate stances, and participate in small-group and whole-class debates. Throughout the course, the student will create a series of graphic organizers and scaffolding to help facilitate total class participation. At the end of this course, the student will have an actionable plan for integrating debate into the classroom and a strong foundation of how to make it an essential element of learning and instruction.
