EDUA 5436 Comm Core Literacy Across Subjects
INTEGRATING COMMON CORE LITERACY STANDARDS ACROSS SUBJECTS (GRADES 6-12)
This course focuses on the Common Core State Standards for literacy and discusses how these shifts affect non-ELA subjects such as math, science, and social studies. In this course the teacher will be presented with resources and best practices for integrating literacy into their classrooms in order to achieve these new standards. This course not only provides practical insights into implementing literacy-teaching practices, it also focuses on how including literacy across subject enhances content learning. Adding discipline literacy as a standard can seem daunting, but this course will show how it is actually improves learning in all subjects.
