EDUA 5850 Teaching AP Classes
TEACHING AP CLASSES
This course helps teachers understand the purpose and function of the AP program. Through this course, teachers investigate the history of the AP program and gain a deep understanding of the College Board, its mission, and how it endeavors to help students become college ready. In this course, participants will take a hands-on approach; through research, discussion, and reflection, participants will develop a deep understanding of how the AP system works, how it compares to other advanced academic programs, and how to set up and plan for an effective AP program. Upon completion, participants will develop their own mission and vision statements to create an effective AP program that helps students develop critical thinking and college readiness skills to be successful in the AP program.
