EDUA 5835 Co-Teaching Strategies

CO-TEACHING STRATEGIES
This course provides teachers with an in-depth exploration of strategies and best practices to strengthen the co-teaching experience and build a successful instructional team that can effectively reach the wide range of student needs in today’s classrooms. Teachers will learn the benefits of co-teaching and describe its purpose in inclusive education, the six different co-teaching models and how to best apply them, and strategies for effective classroom management, lesson planning, and differentiation. By the end of this course, teachers will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to successfully and appropriately engage in co-teaching with positive student and teacher outcomes. Teachers will also learn how to define the various co-teaching roles and responsibilities, how to plan for and execute instruction to optimize learning in a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework, and how to establish and maintain a positive rapport with their co-teaching partner and students for a powerful and engaging learning experience.
