Faculty Review Committee (FRC)
Faculty members will elect approximately half of the Faculty Review Committee each year, for two-year terms. The election ballots will list tenured faculty who have not been elected to Faculty Assembly Executive Committee, not exhausted their term limit, and are not currently serving on the Undergraduate Academic Affairs Committee.
The exact number elected will depend upon the number of full-time faculty and the open positions on the Faculty Review Committee. The Committee will be comprised of approximately 15 percent of the total faculty. Members are elected from tenured faculty, with a goal of two representatives from each college. Preferably, the committee will be a diverse group, consisting of males, females, and individuals of different ethnicities. The Chief Academic Officer will serve as a non-voting ex officio member.
Elected members may not serve more than two consecutive terms.
Responsibilities
• Conduct regular faculty reviews (second-, fourth-, and seventh year).
• Review portfolios from faculty eligible for tenure consideration or change in rank and make recommendations to the Chief Academic Officer.
• Review applications and recommend to the Chief Academic officer a rank ordering of sabbatical applications for faculty to whom sabbatical leaves should be granted.
• Receive suggestions from members of the faculty and administration and recommend to the President candidates for honorary degrees. (Minimally, requests are made at least two months prior to awarding the degree).
