Campus Safety and Security Employees
I. POLICY
Campus Safety and Security will identify and manage major disorders using the Electronic Door Access Control System (EDAC) and the Wireless Emergency Network System (WENS).
Whenever students need access to dormitories, as a result of Student Development notifications, the Director of Campus Safety and Security will be notified of the emergency. Campus Safety and Security (CSS) protocol will be to provide immediate assistance in a coordinated manner designed to provide EDAC or “key-in”.
II. DEFINITION
Any person or group of personnel, who have received advanced, specialized training in managing and/or delivering services to bring about the resolution of the EDAC or WENS dilemma.
III. RESPONSIBILITIES
The “On-Call” person will secure specialized services as needed from other divisions or departments. Additionally, he/she will establish and maintain communications with the CSS Director and other divisions. E-mail notifications will also be made advising of the event. Immediate response is required and at no time should the response exceed one hour past the initial notification.
IV. PROCEDURES
Any significant or unusual incident(s) should be handled and reported in a timely manner. Incidents include, but are not limited to the following:
• Students arriving early or returning to the Campus needing EDAC.
• Students staying on Campus needing access to a different dormitory.
• When EDAC has deactivated requiring assistance to, once again, become functional.
• Personnel relieved of duty, receiving employment or returning to duty status.
• WEN needs activation to Student/Staff “alert” status.
• Any significant changes in the WEN situation, “alert” escalation, or de-escalation as it occurs.
• Any event involving the updating or view of the installed cameras.
• Any incident where there may be a question as to the University’s liability.
a. On-Call assignments will be based on workload assessments, reassessed at least annually and revised when necessary.
b. Workload will be equalized to the extent possible, based on operational needs of the EDAC and the Greenville University Campus Safety and Security.
c. The Campus Safety and Security On-Call person will be compensated in the form of a $75.00 stipend for the On-Call period.
i. The on-call period for Campus Safety and Security personnel is Sunday at 12:00a.m. through Saturday at 11:59p.m.
ii. The first callout during the week (Sunday through Saturday) will be a minimum of 2.5 hours. Actual time involved will be reflected if it exceeds this minimum.
All subsequent callouts will reflect the actual time involved.
iii. Callouts will be paid at the rate of time and one-half in all cases.
iv. Employees must record the on-call period on their employee’s time sheet.
