On-Call Pay
(Facilities Regular, Full-Time Employees – Effective November 15, 2001, revised)
• Facilities personnel are on a rotating schedule to be on-call. The on-call period is for one week beginning on a Monday at 7:00 A.M. and ending on the following Monday at 6:59 A.M. .
• The on-call personnel will maintain the department cell phone with them at all times outside of regular working hours.
• The on-call personnel will respond to all emergencies immediately. At no time should the response exceed one hour past the initial notification. In cases of fire, police, or medical emergencies, on-call personnel must ensure that proper authorities are contacted immediately.
o If in doubt as to the validity of urgency for a particular request, contact the Director of Facilities for clarification. If the Director of Facilities is unavailable, respond according to your best judgement.
• The on-call personnel will receive payment of $75.00 for the on-call period.
• An on-call employee who is called back to work outside his or her normal work schedule will be paid for the time worked or a minimum of 2 ½ hours, whichever is greater.
• Time worked while on-call will be calculated at the employee’s regular rate of pay and paid at time and one-half.
• If an employee is called back to work, he or she will not be paid for travel time.
• If an on-call employee is not called back, a payment of $75.00 will be made with no additional pay earned for on-call hours.
• Overtime compensation is applicable only when total hours worked exceed 40 hours in a workweek.
