BUILDING STUDENT CHARACTER THROUGH SERVICE LEARNING
With its focus on problem solving and authentic, real world application, service learning is one of the most significant ways to engage students in the skills they need to thrive in today’s classrooms and tomorrow’s careers. Service learning combines learning goals and community service in ways that can enhance student engagement and achievement, teach civic engagement, and help individuals build community.
In this course, you will learn how to integrate service-learning opportunities into your curriculum and design effective instruction, projects, and reflection opportunities that enrich students’ learning experiences. You will also learn how to meaningfully engage students through powerful topics that impact their communities and affect social change, while honing key 21st century skills, including collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity.
