STAYING PRESENT: MINDFULNESS FOR BETTER TEACHING AND LEARNING

Students and educators today face unprecedented challenges and stressors. When left unaddressed, these anxieties and negative emotions can inhibit learning and interrupt students’ progress on any given day. Mindfulness and mindful practices are key to giving students, families, and educators the emotional, psychological, and cognitive coping skills they need to overcome such obstacles and succeed in school.

In this course, you will take an in-depth look at mindfulness, its benefits and history, as well as detailed strategies on how to implement it in an educational setting. You’ll identify pockets of time throughout the day where you can incorporate mindfulness into your instruction, and examine which techniques will be most effective for your unique student population. In addition, you’ll explore how to make mindfulness a school-wide priority and how to encourage these practices in students’ homes and during online learning.

By making mindfulness a part of your daily routine, you’ll help students to become more kind, focused, motivated, and ready to take on life’s challenges.
