Teachers hear all the time about the importance of equipping even young students with STEM skills. However, finding teaching strategies to accomplish this goal is a different matter entirely. Catching and keeping students’ interest in STEM can feel a bit daunting to many teachers.
In this course, you will explore resources and techniques for teaching STEM to elementary school students, using Dr. Seuss as your teaching partner! You will develop strategies for grabbing students’ attention with some of their favorite Dr. Seuss stories and using that foundation to help students make meaningful connections to STEM. In addition, you’ll learn how to create lesson plans and activities that tap into students’ natural curiosity and love of stories, and how to cultivate a STEM-friendly classroom environment through hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
