EDUA 5760 Understanding Dyslexia

UNDERSTANDING DYSLEXIA
Students with dyslexia are characterized by impaired abilities in oral language, reading, handwriting, spelling, and writing. Although many of these students struggle academically due to their disability, they also typically possess significant strengths and abilities, such as expansive creative abilities, that are often overlooked or misunderstood.

This course introduces the teacher to dyslexia and its impact on oral language, reading, and writing, and provides strategies to support these students in the classroom. By the end of the course, teachers will be able to differentiate instruction to help meet the needs of students with dyslexia, and identify techniques and strategies to channel their strengths.
