EDUA 5468 Writing About Literature

WRITING ABOUT LITERATURE: TEACHING LITERARY ANALYSIS
This course will prepare the teacher to engage students in ‘writing to read’ (or using writing to explore responses to literature, to query those responses, to scrutinize form, and to analyze content), using the formal vocabularies of different genres, and transitioning from pre-writing to a polished, final draft. The teacher will guide students as they write about fiction, drama, graphic narratives, and poetry; explore critical approaches to making sense of literature; and design engaging activities to provide students opportunities to write their way to a comprehension and appreciation of literary texts.
