EDUA 5623 Self-Regulated Learning via Journal

ENABLING SELF-REGULATED LEARNING THROUGH JOURNALING
Self-regulated learning (SRL) theory and research is empowering us to equip our students with necessary 21st-century learning skills. We can train students to be cognizant of and, most importantly, control their thinking processes, behavior, and motivations for and feelings about learning—skills any student can acquire. In this course, we examine self-regulation against the backdrop of American educator and Progressive thinker John Dewey, whose early 20th-century ideas about cognition and teaching practice continue their timeless influence on current-day pedagogy. We explore the phases of SRL and how you can use journaling to capture, organize, and reflect on the thinking both you and your students already do.
