EDUA 5426 Research Writing in the Digital Age

TEACHING RESEARCH WRITING IN THE DIGITAL AGE
This course focuses on instruction and practice in teaching the writing of quality research reports to students in grades 6-12. The course provides teachers with instruction in guiding students to develop research ideas, gather valid information, analyze relevant data, organize disparate materials, craft a well-reasoned report, and use deliberate techniques to fine-tune before presentation. In addition to receiving information specific to writing research reports, teachers will be given the opportunity to practice such instructional techniques as modeling, scaffolding, paraphrasing, and discovery.

An emphasis on writing research reports for firms and non-profit organizations ensures the students will be prepared to thrive in the workplace.
