GET CONNECTED WITH SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is an influential part of our lives in the 21st century. All K-12 classrooms are meant to prepare students with career and life skills necessary to be positive contributors in a global society. Social media can help students become media-literate and prepare them with collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills needed for future success in this technological age.

This is a beginner’s course designed to introduce K-12 teachers to the world of social media. Teachers will begin to learn more about successfully planning and implementing authentic, integrated social media tools. After taking this course, teachers will understand how to integrate some social media applications into core curriculum content areas and how to prepare students to participate safely through digital citizenship practices. Additionally, this course provides ideas for developing social media unit plans, projects, and lessons and practice designing integrative social media instruction. By the end of the course, teachers will be able to increase student engagement and improve overall achievement through the use of various social media tools.
