EDUA 5239 Teaching Constitution/Bill of Right

TEACHING THE CONSTITUTION AND THE BILL OF RIGHTS
The Constitution laid the foundation for our government, creating a whole new vision of democracy and continues to affect each of us every day. The Founding Fathers established a lasting political philosophy that has acted as a model for governments around the world since its inception. To this day politicians and citizens alike continue to interpret and reinterpret the Constitution in light of our evolving society, culture, and political landscape.

In this course the teacher will develop a deep understanding of what motivated the writing of the Constitution, the process that created this founding document, and the ways this document continues to shape our nation. The teacher will develop plans and activities to teach students about the history of the Constitution so as to engage students in interpreting the Constitution in order to understand the role it plays in daily life.
