EDUA 5671 Children in Crisis

CHILDREN IN CRISIS
Today, it is the lucky few that have a childhood with minimal struggle. Poverty, drug use, and other crises are all too common. These factors negatively impact a student’s motivation, engagement, and academic success. This course delves into how the mindset of children in poverty adversely affects their attitude and self-esteem. The course also provides insight into the teenage drug epidemic and strategies for mitigating the devastating effects of adolescent substance abuse. Finally, educators will learn how to teach children in crisis in a way that harnesses their unique learning styles and sets them up for success.
