EDUA 5692 Learning Disabilities/Substance Abu
LEARNING DISABILITIES FROM SUBSTANCE ABUSE
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is amongst the most damaging and pervasive of developmental disabilities, and unfortunately one of the least diagnosed because of the social taboos associated with drinking while pregnant.
In this course, the teacher will learn about the physical, cognitive, and behavioral characteristics of FAS, and the many challenges this medical condition poses to afflicted children. The course also provides concrete approaches to working with an FAS student, and an in-depth look at the experience of one person who lives with FAS every day.
