EDUA 5780 Project-Based Learning in Elem
PROJECT-BASED LEARNING IN THE ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM
Are your students excited about the classroom projects you assign? Do these projects engage students in the pursuit of solving real-world problems? Do your projects promote critical thinking and authentic inquiry? If not, project-based learning may be the right teaching approach for you.
In project-based learning, students work for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to a complex question, problem, or challenge. This approach engages students in solving real-world problems while gaining critical thinking skills. Project-based learning often reaches across subject areas, encouraging students to see connections between disciplines and giving them opportunities to apply their knowledge in a variety of situations.
This course will introduce you to project-based learning by clearly explaining what it is and what it isn’t, and providing examples of a variety of projects for analysis. After developing a clear understanding of project-based learning, you will practice coming up with an idea, planning the details, and managing your project from beginning to end. By the end of the course, you will be equipped with the knowledge you need to plan and implement project-based learning in your classroom to inspire and engage students.
